Well the simple answer to that is YES, Highlander was born in 1995 along with another well respected business called eBay, whatever happened to them?
On the 24th of August a mere couple of weeks after Highlander was formed Microsoft released the Windows 95 operating system, software that Highlander owes a lot of gratitude to and we would like to think that it was a major driver in why we are here today.
Computers were somewhat of a dark art back in 1995 and our CEO Robert Massie made the brave and bold decision to invest in technical expertise, focused towards the business sector. Highlander Business Solutions as we were known back then, began supplying and supporting I.T. & telecoms systems for businesses within Sheffield and the surrounding area.

Fast forward to 2004 and Highlander had developed into the 1st choice for I.T. solutions and services in the local area, however the board had ambitious plans to develop the business above and beyond the local market place. As part of a major development plan Highlander Direct was born with the sole aim to provide I.T. hardware, software and services to organisations around the whole of the UK.
Over the years, we have overcome many challenges set by our customers, most recently helping our customers take advantage of cloud technologies, the biggest fundamental changes in the way I.T. is procured and consumed. The evolution of our business led to the decision in 2014 to change our name from Highlander Direct to Highlander Computing Solutions, reflecting the direction we are taking with our solutions and services business.
The future looks bright for Highlander and even brighter for our customers.
